Introduction

This virtual session is presented by Dr Alexandra von Westernhagen, an EU/Competition specialist with more than 20 years’ experience, gained in Brussels (including at DG Competition) and private practice of four EU Member State jurisdictions.

Join Alexandra who will discuss how the EU Green Deal Strategy reflects the European Union’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental protection by setting out an ambitious plan to transform Europe into a sustainable and competitive economy.

With the help of live examples, you will investigate the connection between competition law and sustainability, based on the EU’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and explore how EU competition policy is likely to give weight to sustainability values in competition policy going forward.

In particular, you will study examples of concrete policy reform across the competition instruments of State aid, antitrust, and merger control.

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) in the context of competition law
