HMOs - A Practical Introduction for Advisers
Introduction
The Housing Act 2004, and associated secondary legislation, introduced licensing requirements and management standards in relation to houses of multiple occupation (‘HMO’). Failure to comply with these requirements and standards can constitute a criminal offence or can lead to other civil action.
This is a complex area of law which can create uncertainty in relation to what constitutes ‘an HMO’, the licensing requirements and management standards which are applicable to that kind of property.
The aim of this webinar is to explain, by reference to relevant legislation and case law. The webinar is suitable for legal representatives and anyone involved in housing standards enforcement who want to learn more about HMOs, the management standards and licensing requirements.
