Introduction

One of the most dangerous identifiers for decades has been that of the ‘common law spouse’ as there is no such thing in law.

This leaves unmarried and cohabiting partners at a disadvantage, and their claims for inheritance often are forced to rely on the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.

This new virtual classroom seminar is suitable for practitioners who already have a basic understanding of the Inheritance Act.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive course will cover the following:

  • An examination of the provisions that apply to unmarried partners and consideration of the situations where the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 may apply
  • An examination of the recent case law to identify the requisite features of a successful applicant
  • Consideration of the position of cohabiting unmarried partners and whether or not non-cohabiting unmarried partner claims can be successful

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
