UK Sanctions - Latest Developments - Live At Your Desk
Introduction
Since 31 December 2020, the United Kingdom has had its own autonomous sanctions regime. The government has since demonstrated a clear intention to increase the use of sanctions in furtherance of political and security objectives.
Recent months have seen high profile and swift sanctions designations as well as the unveiling of new frameworks specifically targeting corruption and human rights abuses. The developments bring the United Kingdom’s sanctions regime more in line with that in the United States and a level of coordination with Canada and the United States can be expected.
Hand in hand with the increase in sanctions activity, the Office of Financial Sanctions Implementation (OFSI) has handed out hefty penalties for sanctions breach and further enforcement is on the agenda.
This virtual classroom seminar will ensure that businesses and firms stay up to date with sanctions developments and know what to check for when onboarding new customers as well as during the course of client relationships.
