Introduction

ESG is a widespread topic, touching upon hundreds of things to be committed to, measured, certified, and worked on due to new regulatory requirements.

Frequently, clear guidance is scarce so it can be difficult to know what really matters.

Materiality, as defined in international gold standards for sustainability, is a key concept when integrating ESG into your corporate organisation. Failure to do so correctly can result in additional work, wasted money and greenwashing, amongst other negative consequences.

During this virtual classroom seminar sustainability expert Dr Alexandra von Westernhagen will provide you with detailed guidance on how a professional materiality analysis is carried out.

This session is ideal for compliance staff, GCs and other professionals within companies who are confronted with the challenge to establish ESG compliance, but do not yet have professional corporate sustainability management in place.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • Myths about what ESG should cover
  • Why materiality matters in ESG - strategy, reporting, compliance, budgeting etc
  • Materiality v relevance
  • Double materiality v inward materiality
  • Materiality analysis
  • Pitfalls
  • Case study including a helpful checklist/matrix
