Introduction

This virtual classroom session will summarise the brave new world of digital business taxation as it affects the self-assessment client and the tax agent.

MTD is scheduled to be mandatory for individuals and landlords with income over £50,000 from April 2026 however, you can join voluntarily beforehand meaning you can eliminate common errors and save time managing your client’s tax affairs.

This session will explore HMRC's plans for the future and what is to come with MTD currently.

What You Will Learn

This live and interactive session will cover the following:

  • New record-keeping obligations
  • Potential impact on the practising tax agent
  • How clients' income is to be calculated
  • Will there be new client opportunities
  • The new self-employed basis of assessment, problems and opportunities?
  • Timing issues and impact on workflow for accountants
  • Compliance and accounting issues likely to arise
  • MTD currently planned to be mandatory for turnover and rents above £50k, but,
  • Clients can join voluntarily if they wish to get a head start on the changes

Recording of live sessions: Soon after the Learn Live session has taken place you will be able to go back and access the recording - should you wish to revisit the material discussed.
